We’re constantly advising clients that while Facebook and other Social channels are important, you can not ignore your website’s blog. Why? Because Google loves blogs. Here’s a really good article that explains the power of a blog post.
The main points of the article are Blog posts last much longer. “A blog post will be an evergreen resource for years, while a Facebook post is essentially seen once, and is then lost in the feed. A Facebook post has a steep drop-off in readers, is virtually valueless after a week, and might as well not exist after a month. ”
To get on our SEO soapbox for a moment: We tell clients that Google is a fickle girlfriend when it comes to search results showing your website. She’s very “what have you done for me lately!!??” Google loves fresh content and the best way to inject keyword-rich fresh content to your website, that Google will take notice of and show people, is through your website’s blog. You don’t have to write a novel. Toss up a few pictures or a brief video you shot on your phone (hold it horizontal please!) and add in 250 to 750 words. Now SHARE that blog’s link to Facebook so you cover both channels. We’ll end with some stats:
Google loves blogs. Here are some statistics that prove the value of a blog for SEO:
- Websites with blogs have 434% more indexed pages than websites without.
- 90% of customers find consumer content in blog posts useful.
Business to business (B2B) marketers with blogs get 67% more leads than those without blogs.
